15 March 2008

Venue: Ross and Claire Jenvey’s house – Riverclub

The March revolutionaries: Peter Nixon (MC), Ross and Claire Jenvey (hosts), Paul, Greg and Louise.

Meal: Thai green curry chicken. Lemon sorbet for dessert with Boksburg melktert from Louise.

Topics discussed: Bryanston Organic Market, good food, university days, 80’s adverts and TV.

Drinks consumed: Mostly wine.

Success rating: 8/10

Critique of meal: The green curry paste tasted almost exactly right, except was far too weak – double the quantity of paste maybe? Also was not hot at all. Removing all the chilli seeds made it too weak, somewhere in between is the happy medium. Definitely worth trying again, would be great if I can get this right. The lemon sorbet for dessert was superb! Could not have gotten that any more perfect. Going to have to try that with different fruit.

Lessons learnt: How easy sorbet is to make and what galangal tastes like. Don’t put plastic bags on hot stove plates.
